THE LAKE DISTRICT, ENGLAND

Though the Lake District is often regarded as one of the country's golden gems, interest in the location is likely to peak after it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site this year.

The region is dotted with picturesque lakes, quaint villages and historic B&Bs, a source at DK Travel says. "Plus, there's a new Peter Rabbit film set to come out in March which will see more visitors head for attractions like The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windemere or the Beatrix Potter Trail at Brockhole."

The town of Keswick is also currently the eighth most popular search for rental accommodation for next year, according to TripAdvisor Rentals.
